What is the Design & Construction Process?
The owner contracts the Kattman Corporation to prepare and implement a design plan and to manage construction. Planning the work comprises three phases, including Programming, Preliminary Design, and Final Design. Once a program is established with a client, the preliminary plan and details are prepared in sketch form along with a draft estimate and outline specification. Alternative designs may be considered, budget allowing. Upon client approval, final design drawings are prepared in a hard-line manner for all site improvement including layout, materials, grading, drainage, electric and irrigation systems, site furniture, structure details, lawns, and planting. A final cost estimate and specifications are prepared for construction.
The Kattman Corporation assists the clients in selecting a reputable contractor to build the design. During construction, the landscape architect inspects the work weekly to insure compliance with the contract documents. Kattman Corporation will answer the contractor's questions, approve shop drawings and samples and submittals, approve pay requisitions, tag all plant materials and close out the job.
